Soyon An

Costume Designer

Los Angeles based, Soyon An is a two-time Emmy® Award winning costume designer and celebrity stylist. An has made a name for herself in music, television and film. Her focus is on taking the experiences she receives from her work in TV and film into her work with musicians and vice versa; combining her skills as a stylist with her original and innovative costume designs.

An began her career studying at both the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) and Otis College of Art and Design. She was involved with the fashion forward Jimon Magazine and was a former designer at Forever 21’s upscale Twelve By Twelve line. From there An worked as head costume designer for Fox’s hit TV shows “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance” for eight seasons. She was also the head costume designer for ABC’s “Boy Band” in 2017 and currently is the head of the costume department for a variety of award shows.

Expanding her repertoire into films, An began work as a costume designer on her first film in 2013, Battle of the Year, which quickly led to other films such as Step Up All In, the Disney Channel’s Bad Hair Day and, her most recent, Jem and the Holograms. Recently, Soyon was the costume designer for the Virgin Airway’s safety video which became an internet success.

An has styled and designed pieces for artists and actors/actresses such as Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Pink, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Kate Bosworth, Avril Lavigne, and so on. She has worked as the main stylist for artists such as Cher Lloyd, Becky G, 5th Harmony and so forth. Her work has been featured in major publications such as Glamour, People, OK! Magazine, Seventeen, LA Times, AOL’s Stylelist, WWD, InStyle, Hollywood Life, Emmy Magazine and US Magazine’s online site.
