Director of Photography
Born on the California coastline and raised on the streets of New York City, Los Angeles based Cinematographer, Jason Oldak, began his career as a fine artist in the New York Art world graduating from the prestigious COOPER UNION holding a BFA in fine art. A continual fascination with cinema later earned him an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory.
Having worked professionally as a DP for almost two decade’s, Jason’s work includes award winning series for APPLE, FOX/FX, HBOMAX, Hulu, Netflix, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate STARZ and Walt Disney Pictures. In the summer 2023, Jason just wrapped on the feature film “DOIN’ IT’, starring Lily Singh, Directed by Sara Zandieh and produced by Antony Bregman of Likely Story. Premiering on October 13th on APPLE+, Jason photographed “Lessons in Chemistry” based on the best selling novel, starring Brie Larson and Lewis Pullman, based on the NY Times best selling novel of the same name. Additionally, he photographed “UnPrisoned” for HULU and Onyx Collective, starring Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo, premiering in March 23′. In January 23′, he provided additional photography to the limited FX series, “The Sterling Affairs”, starring Lawrence Fishburne, Jackie Weaver and Ed O’Neil.
Oldak is an award winning filmmaker whose work has been showcased in some of the finest film festivals throughout the world. He has photographed large and small-scale feature films, episodic television, documentaries, and numerous commercial works.
“The entire filmmaking process is collaborative, creative, and extremely fulfilling on so many levels,” explains Oldak. “I enjoy, more than anything, working alongside passionate artists to help visualize their script in a daring and impactful way. An integral part of the process is constantly thinking outside of the box and off-the-cuff.”
